Thats IT???!!

This is the damn picture that everyone was crying about just over a week ago?? Come on now, it cost the American taxpayer just over 300thousand and this is all we get?! For that price I almost wish something more nefarious was really taking place. Instead of being mad that the government didn't tell anyone about this. We should be mad about how much thus bullshit photo op cost us in time and money!! Just a thought!!

A Foggy Day In DUBAI!!!

Now this is a skyline to remember, they are building on a whole different level over in Dubai!!! They are really getting it in.

1905 Chronograph by Gerald Genta

Known for his much desired works from iconic watch brands such as IWC, Patek Philippe, and Audemars Pigue, Gerald Genta is no rookie horologist. Ritz Fine Jewelry teamed up with the designer to create an ultra exclusive line of 15 unique timepieces utilizing the best materials and movements available. The face of the watch has also been left blank to allow the owner to personalize the watch or you can even commission Mr. Genta himself to design a motif just for you. Pictured above is the 1905 Chronograph model in 18ct white gold carried exclusively by 20ltd. Beware the price tag is not at recession prices!! LOL, just a joke!!

Tom Ford “Made to Measure” Shoes

Tom Ford is one of my favorite high fashion designers, so as the saying goes if the shoe fits, then it's perfectly wearable; if the shoe fits like Tom Ford's made-to-measure footwear, then it's nigh-on perfect. Customers can select from any one of 18 styles - from lace-ups to loafers - and an almost bewildering number of materials (14 different kinds of calf leather, not to mention suede and crocodile skin). Still not individual enough? Then add a monogram or have your moniker inscribed inside the shoe. Measuring complete, the order hotfoots its way to Naples to begin a painstaking three-month process that gives the shoe-to-be (and presumably the shoemaker) time to rest between each of the six layers of polish. Alas, the service is currently only available in Ford's flagship stores in New York and Milan, but then that hardly takes the shine off. For those willing to spend in excess of $3500 this is a great look for you!!

Self Serve Liquor Bar!!!

Now this is what I'm talking about, here is an interesting take on the bar scene - MiniBar , a new establishment in Amsterdam, looks to take the wait out of bar socializing with a self serve deal. Whether there is a control to check on intoxication of the patrons is another issue, but damn, this is Amsterdam. How does it work you ask? “Customers leave a passport or driver’s license with a staff member and are given an ice bucket and a key to their bar. The numbered mini fridges fill an entire wall, and vary in size and content—guests can choose from beer bars, champagne bars and mixed bars. Like an old-fashioned food automate, the mini bars are stocked from the back, making for easy restocking and out-of-sight logistics.” I usually go with bottle service when I'm out getting it in but this would help when I go to packed lounges where its not really necessary for me to pop bottles.

Now This Is an Office!!!

This is the office of the Selgas Cano architects in Madrid, I guess it’s not downtown Madrid. They definitely have a different perspective on their surroundings. This is the creative thought process that I am really into. I like people who think outside the box, and this design for an office space is pushing the limits!!

U.S. Passport Rules Changing on June 1, 2009

ATTENTION, ATTENTION, for all of you who will be traveling abroad (including Canada & Mexico)The passport rules are going to change on June 1 for Western Hemisphere travel. If you plan to travel outside the U.S. this year, get or renew your passport now, and think twice before planning a car trip to Mexico or Canada in June. That's because come next month (unless Congress changes the deadline), Americans will need to show a passport, a passport card, or other special document to return to the United States by land or sea from Mexico and Canada.

What do you need to do? Get reading, and get planning.

What you need now. Generally, you need a passport to enter the U.S. by air from any foreign country. If you enter by land or sea from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, or Bermuda, you may not need a passport, but you will need at least a birth certificate or other proof of citizenship, plus a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license. Children 18 or younger need only a birth certificate for land and sea entry from these areas.

What you'll need starting June 1.
The same rules apply for air travel -- passport required. If you're arriving from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, or Bermuda by land or sea, you'll generally have several choices: a passport; a passport card. There will be exceptions for land and sea crossings from these destinations. U.S. and Canadian children younger than 16, for example, will need only proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate; in organized groups, the cutoff will be age 18.

Passengers on cruise ships that sail round-trip from a U.S. port may need only a birth certificate and a government-issued photo ID (although the cruise line or foreign countries they visit may require a passport).

So please be prepared before things get real different, and be very selective on where you choose to travel to! The world is not what it use to be for us Americans, so act and travel accordingly.

A Small Splurge In a Trying Time!!

If your like me, then you enjoy a glass of wine from time to time just to relax. I have always felt that in times of prosperity people should splurge on fine wine. Discerning drinkers will find however that a tighter budget need not mean sacrificing the pleasures of enjoying the fruit of the vine. New York-based Dreyfus, Ashby & C0., a national independent importer and marketer of fine wines and spirits, has put together a list of six great summer wines from around the globe, ideal for various cuisines and all priced under $20. Here's the rundown:

From Nederburg, the most award-winning name in South African wine, comes Lyric (above left), a new blend of Sauvignon blanc, Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay. Freshly cut grass and green peppers meet aromas of peach and apricot to create a wine that is crisp, fresh and beautifully acidic, perfect for pairing with anything from fresh fruit to seafood. SRP: $10.99

Château de Campuget's Tradition Rosé (center left) is a crisp and fruity rosé wine from the up-and-coming Costières de Nîmes region of France, made using roughly 30% Grenache Noir and 70% Syrah. The color is obtained through a short maceration of two hours which gives it its distinctive shiny hue. Perfect with spicy and ethnic foods. SRP: $10.99

Enrique Foster is a top-flight operation with the objective of producing the best Malbec in Argentina, which is to say the best in the world. Ique (center right) is fresh and young with fruity characteristics and a ruby-red color. Its firm structure and soft tannins make it the perfect counterpart for ribs and pulled pork sandwiches. SRP: $11.99

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, is one of our all-time favorite wines. Geisen's bottling (above right) has all the ripe fruit and the crisp, green and lively components associated with the wine, aromatic, flavorful and genuinely refreshing. Perfect with a light fish with a citrusy sauce. SRP: $14.99

This is a strong wine list for under $20, I wish more importers would come out with deals and fresh finds for us consumers! We will have to wait and see, in the mean time enjoy these great bottles of wine with that special person in your life.....

GET DRESSED!!!

I was just looking at these suits by RALPH LAUREN, and it made me think about how a lot of men have gotten lazy! Or woman have allowed men to get lazy with their style of dress, understanding that 99% of what men wear/drive/have is for women. Now me being the well dressed Maven and Tastemaker (Don't forget about gentleman) that I am. I have to say even I sometimes have to make myself WANT TO put on a suit or a jacket and not be street wear fashionable. So I made a call to my tailor and now I'm going even harder with the suit and high fashion game. There are some really great deals on designer suits right now! Don't get it twisted there's nothing wrong with T-Shirts and stuff, but there's a time and place for all that. Now when it comes to sneakers, I love them so if you have a fresh pair that matches your suit/sport coat or polo then do you! Men please have yout suit tailored!!! This is a must, a good tailor can make a $300 suit look like a $3000 suit. And last but not least, ladies...please don't settle for dudes that don't take the time to get fresh for you (make sure you're fresh also). Because if he can't handle his business then he sure as hell can't handle yours!! This being said I know summer is damn near here and it's way to hot to wear a suit some places but at least look into Polos/deckshoes/tailored shorts/linen or something! Anyway just a thought.....

Will Luxury Survive the Recession?

The Wall Street Journal’s magazine, WSJ., asks a question that my self have been wondering: Will and can the luxury-retail market survive the recession and the resulting everything-must-go 70 percent off sales that consumers are growing accustomed to? When was the last time you paid full price for anything designer? If I think back to the big Saks sale last year, at first, everyone was scandalized at just how low the prices fell. And now, we all expect it. Frankly, we won’t pay old-economy prices for our bags again(I know I won't).

So what will happen to the high-end stores of yore? The Journal doesn’t really answer this, of course. Who can, unless they have one helluva great Magic Eight Ball. But the article does look at the new world of shopping, which isn’t really new to most fashion fanatics. Net-A-Porter changed the way houses looked at web retail, after Natalie Massenet started bypassing runway shows and buyers — with RM and Halston selling directly on her site. And she recently launched theoutnet.com, her outlet site, with which everyone is a touch obsessed. WSJ. also explores the glorious world of online sales at Gilt Groupe, and those traditionally gauche places, outlet stores. (Our best shoe finds ever were from the Neiman Marcus outlets in Dallas. Just saying.) All of these sites and stores are changing fashion dramatically. Some designers are digging in their heels and not dropping their prices. But others are adapting and giving consumers what they want. Shocking idea. Balenciaga has a new outlet at Woodbury Common, and Oscar de la Renta launched an outlet section on the company’s website. And though designers were furious about the steep markdowns at department stores late last year, consumers loved them. You can’t really argue with what the customer wants. So while consumers may not pay full price again, luxury can survive this economy. That is, if, like everything and everyone else right now, it learns to adapt. Welcome to Darwinism!!!

MVP!!!!

I know, I'm a day late with this won but I got shit to do!! Anyway CONGRATULATIONS to LEBRON JAMES! Dude has been going off the whole season, we will see what happens the rest of the playoffs!!

Custom Bathroom by Robern!!

I am looking at new houses now and one of my favorite parts of a house has to be the master bathroom. If its not up to my standards I will not think to purchase it. But there are a few designers that I like that are bring new ideas to the market. One of which is the design team over at Robern. I don't really like swinging bathroom cabinets or mirrors but Robern has the Uplift mirrors. They just float upward and has six power outlets, plus a TV mount. Now that's what I'm talking about when it comes to functionality!!

New Hennessy Black!!

Hennessy Black, the company’s first major launch since 1961, will be available in 10 markets throughout the U.S. including Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, New York City, Ohio, Washington DC and Massachusetts. The company hopes the new drink - which has a blend of Jasmine, daffodils and orange flowers mixed with citrus, honey and grapes - will take the Hennessy brand beyond the cognac category to the premium mixed spirits. The drink will come to market with a variety of mixed drink recipes, including: Hennessy Black ice (with lemon juice and sugar); Hennessy Black Bull (coffee Liqueur and cola with ice); Hennessy Black Spice (ginger, syrup and lemon juice); and Hennessy Black Royale (champagne, lemon juice and syrup).

“Today is an ideal time to launch a new product — consumers are increasingly seeking new and different ideas that can excite them,” says Andy Glaser, senior VP of Hennessy Business, adding that the Hennessy Artistry program which blends music, cultures and drinks, has a few more collaborations lined-up for this year to be announced in a few weeks.

Rapper/producer Swizz Beatz has been tapped by Hennessy V.S. to help launch the new, limited line of cognac.

The rapper will perform an original song, “When I Step Into the Club,” alongside the JabbaWockeez of “America’s Best Dance Crew” during a launch event in New York on May 5. An accompanying video by director Hype Williams will be revealed as well.

“Beatz is a long-time fan of the brand and approached us looking for ways we could work together. Since this product is all about having fun in the club, he suggested collaborating on a track that would be a hot dance song in the clubs,” Glaser, tells Billboard.biz.

Looks like some brands are taking advantage of the recession and trying new products out before the economy recovers and the real brand wars begin again! Not mad at you LVMH, looks like the team over there has a well thought out plan. They just seem to be on the pulse of the consumer right now with all the different moves each brand is making underneth them. I have to say they are a very strong Holding Company!! Everyone better watchout!

GET YOUR GAME UP!!

Yes, get your game up with this 3D Chess Board by Ji Lee. Which has one of the most unique chess designs we’ve ever seen. The board has a really interesting design, and makes a decorative centerpiece and great conversation starter. “The three-dimensional chess board adds an extra dimension of physicality to the game’s battle field” says Lee. The King looks less obtainable now, that he is set on his pedestal shared with his wife. When I saw this I had to jack it so shout out to Limite Magazine, their in my blog roll! This Chess board is so DOPE!!!

Is President Barack Obama really 'The Most Expensive President Since 1945??

Let me say this first, I'm down for President Obama 110%, that being said in his first 100 days there are problems with how he is handling things. We have to be truthful to ourselves and look at whats on his plate. At any rate he has a tough job ahead of him and he needs our support. But as I look around not everybody is in favor of President Obama and this fact is crystal-clear from an opinion post on Spiegel. Award-winning journalist, Gabor Steingart, has more than one reason to state that current US President Barack Obama is ‘The Most Expensive President Since 1945’. He isn’t shy from proclaiming that Obama’s first 100 days in office were expensive, glamorous and often contradictory. Evaluating Obama’s performance on why the 44th President got himself tagged as the most expensive President since the year of 1945. The prime reason for Obama's first 100 days touted as the most costly in American postwar history- Obama has ignited a dangerous time bomb in the US government's budget. The economic stimulus program and the billions in bailout funds for Wall Street banks are being paid for primarily with borrowed funds.

Also from a financial standpoint, the United States cannot afford many of these bailout programs as they are not being paid for with taxpayer money. However Obama claims so. Instead, the money is coming from the savings of the Japanese, Chinese and Europeans. The United States now needs $1 billion (€760 million) in foreign funds every working day just to maintain its standard of living. It is also reported that the country consumes more than half of all worldwide savings. Not only is this is costly, but it is also extremely risky. More important, it is not sustainable. By taking this approach, Obama is only leading his country more deeply into dependence on creditors from around the world.

Moreover bank bonuses are likely to be twice as high as they were before the crisis this year. Also the first African-American President’s family’s lifestyle isn’t short of glitz and glamour. It is very obvious that Michelle Obama’s wardrobe is full of designer outfits that make a statement without fail.

Gabor summed it very well - So far, the Obama presidency is as contradictory as reality. No one today can say whether he will end up being the president he wants to be. Presidents develop in office.

To tell you all the truth Gabor makes some very good points when you go back and do your own research. Also 74% of americans are having trouble with their finances and most of these people have manageable debt. So imagine what our President and his team are going to go threw getting this country's debt back in order after we spend our way out of a recession/depression! Its just a thought, keep your third eye open!!!
