Lamborghini Gallardo stilettos are outrageous

I'm not sure whether shoes inspired by cars are the best accessories to flaunt. I mean absolutely no sane woman would like to be seen wearing shoes that resemble a car! That is why I was left quite astonished when I came across the Lamborghini Gallardo stilettos. Designed by Modo illustrator Tim Cooper as a potential product from Tonino Lamborghini, they are definitely showstoppers (for the wrong reasons of course). Based on the design of the defunct Gallardo Superleggera, the pumps boast of carbon fiber stilettos holding up the back. This is definitely great to cheer up the girl who someday wants to own her very own Gallardo. Quite hilarious and unique. Nice try, lets go back to the drawing board.

Have Recession Sales Changed Luxury Sector?

In the midst of economic turmoil, Saks Fifth Avenue slashed prices by 70 percent in November. You probably heard tales of the fights for Christian Louboutins marked down to $250 from $800, or a Badgley Mischka dress marked down to $295 from $1,000, or Manolo Blahniks marked down to $160 from $535. Good for shoppers like us, but bad for designers, who don’t get a say in the markdowns and have to absorb the costs. Making it worse for labels like Marni or Derek Lam, angry customers march into their freestanding stores demanding the same merchandise at the same 70 percent discount. And when the economy bounces back, how can Saks go back to selling things at full price when consumers expect sales?

The Calypso is a genius concept!

Calypso_chair_1.jpg Here is a unique couch/seat that shows our dependence on our laptops and other devices. Called the Calypso it is a genius design by designer Brandon Allen. This convertible web surfing seat is perfect for two and hence it transforms into a cozy little loveseat especially for geeks. Allowing you to be in constant touch with your gadgets this loveseat is totally unique. Being able to fold flat and with a rack under it to store your books and other unnecessary items, this seat is indeed neat. Though just a concept, it would really be a welcome piece of furniture in many homes. Calypso_chair_2.jpg

Louis Vuitton (LVMH) Reports Increased Sales For 2008

For all of you who think that fashion is all about style and look, get your mind right! The main part of the fashion world no matter what he designers say is the business of fashion. Or in plain terms the money, so with that said alot of you have been spending strong in the ressession. Not sure what I'm getting at check this out: While 2008 has been a less than ideal year for the retail sector, Louis Vuitton Moet Hennesey (LVMH) has reported an increase in sales this quarter. The world’s most well-known luxury brand garnered a 4.2% increase to 23.9 million billion in 2008. That’s a lot of money my friends. LVMH did not provide numbers for their 4th Quarter profits but LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault does not seem to be sad about those results - whatever they may be.

“In January, we have seen growth, but I can’t give details,” Arnault said. “But it was not a bad month. Far from it.”

Arnault believes the increase in profits was due partially to strong brands, a diversified market share and a refusal to cut prices. While most brands and stores have been slashing prices - I’m talking about YOU Saks Fifth Avenue and Barneys - Louis Vuitton has held strong to regular seasonal prices.

"We are the one brand in the world that never gives discounts,” he said referring to the Louis Vuitton label.

In news that should make several magazines and other publications happy, LVMH has assured parties of interest that they will not be decreased their ad sales budget.

Louis Vuitton’s strongest area was fashion and leather goods, which saw 10.0% revenue growth before currency fluctuations in 2008, with a 6.8% reported final increase, to $6.0 billion, in 2008. While the Louis Vuitton company itself (not the stock - which owns other companies - ie.e Sephora, Moet Hennesy) saw considerable growth in the 4th quarter and all of 2008. It should be noted that during this time of economic uncertainty - LVMH will open up to 30 new Vuitton stores this year. This should tell you how strong LVMH’s performance was last quarter.

3sixteen Spring/Summer 2009

3sixteen delivers their lookbook for Spring/Summer 2009 and we simply think this is their best collection to date. The street fashion inspired line has begun to graduate nicely into a modern menswear label that keeps it’s root where they belong while providing looks that provide their customers with something beyond the traditional “printed” fashion. And the fact that the men behind the line are some of the nicest guys on the scene doesn’t hurt. Also my boy Devon is one of the models in the lookbook so I have to show luv, keep grinding fam I see you making moves.
